I had VSG on October 1, 2013. Since then I have lost over 100 pounds. I believe this surgery and my subsequent lifestyle change saved my life. My husband and I have a farm. In the last 2 years we have planted 4 acres of grape vines. I was actually able to get on the ground and plant the vine! Before surgery I could not do anything physical like this. I feel like I have my life back. I realized the most important step in this journey....You must make a permanent lifestyle change. My eating habits are totally different. I no longer allow food to define me or events in my life. The most fun thing is that I have twin granddaughters that are 2-1/2. They think their Yaya is a fun person. I can actually keep up with them. I encourage anyone that has struggled with weight gain to research VSG and the positive impact it will have on your life.

This is the best decision I have ever made. I am a year out now from Gastric Bypass surgery, and I have never felt better! I have lost 90 pounds, but more than that I have my life back. I was suffering from Type II Diabetes, terrible acid reflux, and several issues with my heart. All of the medicines I took for Type II Diabetes and my heart issues are gone! I am able to exercise now, and I have even officially participated in three 5K races, which is something I would have never thought possible before. I look and feel like a new person. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

After many years of struggling with Diabetes, Asthma, Sleep Apnea and many other health issues, I finally made the decision to pursue weight loss surgery. It is one of the best decisions I have ever made. On July 15, 2013 I had Gastric Bypass and since the day of surgery I have been off the insulin pump and off my Bi-Pap. I have lost 126 pounds to this point and still have about 60 to go to reach my goal. It's amazing how much my life has already improved.

I have always been larger than most of the girls my age because I come from tall and big genes. I have struggled with my weight all my life and in my 20s began to gain more weight than I usually did. I had maintained my weight from High school to that time pretty well not going over a size 22/24. A number of things happened in my 20s that caused this weight explosion. I stopped going to the clubs dancing because I had met my soulmate, and I was also diagnosed with a Thyroid issue and PCOS. After 10+ years of this, with the help of Fertility drugs, I had my twins at 36. I managed not to gain too much weight over my pregnancy but I did get to 416 lbs by the time I had them. For 7 years after having them, I struggled gaining and losing, gaining and losing but never getting anywhere. Then I had gotten to 475 lbs at my highest weight, and I saw an advertisement for Dr. Turton's seminar. I attended with my mom and was very excited about what I heard, especially on the Sleeve surgery. I had never been very comfortable with implanting something in my body, or having parts not being used and rerouting other parts. So the Sleeve sounded perfect for me. I had my surgery in March of 2013, and since then I have lost 170 lbs. I feel and look so much better. I even road my first fair ride in 20+ years with my kids this summer, and I can once again go to theaters and not worry about whether the arms are able to be lifted up or asking if they have big butt chairs. I don't have to use an extension for my seatbelt in my car, and can go to restaurants and not have to request a table so I have enough room, we can sit in the booths.

I was always to biggest one in the room, in my family...every where. I was 24 years old and on a one way track to diabetes and already flirting with high blood pressure. In Febuary of 2012 I made the best decision of my life, I signed up for an information session and met Dr. Turton. Shortly after the information session I decided on which surgery I wanted, the sleeve. On December 3rd, 2012 I started my new life. I have come so far since my surgery day...I am down 115lbs and I am not looking back. Weight loss surgery and Dr. Turton changed my life and all for the better.

Hello my name is Robert J Wortley, Jr. my nickname is Jay and I have been over weight all my life. I always had to wear bigger clothes then the rest of my friends. In the past 10 years I had been diagnosed with diabetes and high blood pressure at 330 pounds. I had tried every diet you can try and yes I would lose the normal 10 or 20 pounds but unfortunately I would go off the diet and gain it all back plus some. Exercise was hard to do and going for a walk was hard also. I attended a seminar in August 2011 in Columbus Georgia with Dr. Turton. He spoke about the three types of gastric surgeries that he performed and with the recommendation from my physician we decided on the Lap-Band. Went to my first appointment with Dr. Turton his office staff was great. They took my weight and vitals, explained what insurance would and would not cover. Then I met with Dr Turton he gave me his recommendation for surgery which was for the Gastric Sleeve saying the weight loss would be quicker and better for me. He told me to go and do my own research, ask questions and make sure this is what I wanted. After doing my research and going back to another seminar I finally decided to have the Gastric Sleeve. On May 23rd 2012 at 12 noon I went to surgery at West Georgia Hospital for the next permanent change in my life. From the woman who did my pre-op, to my scrub nurse, to my night nurse whom all had one type of gastric surgery prior to me to make me feeling at ease. About three hours after surgery they got me up for stroll down the hospital hallways. Since coming home I have changed my eating habits (no more buffets) more exercise and weight has dropped. Dr Turton has great support group meetings once a month with dietician DeNeese Blanton she brings us nutritional ideas and most of all I can learn from other patients of their experiences that they have had before me. Today January 25th 2013, went to my regular physician and they too my A1C which was 6.5 down from the 11.7 in February 2011 and she has taken me off all of my diabetes meds.

Respectively, Robert J. Wortley, Jr.
